| i went to hollywood today...
i used to study music there, and lately, God's spirit has urged me to
get back there to meet with them and just have some connection to them.
no conversions, no great theological debates, just the opportunity to
sit and talk and drink espresso with musicians who can play circles
around me.
for those of you who are a little smarter than me, you know that today
is MLK Jr. Day, and that there are no classes. this includes the
fact that there are no classes at my old music school in
hollywood. i did not think of this, however, until i got off the
train, and saw everything closed up.
another really crazy thing that happened was that i got hit by a
car while trying to utilize a crosswalk. i was on my bike, and a
lady that was stopped, ready to make a right hand turn ran over the
front end of my bicycle. miraculously, i was able to throw my leg
over the frame in time to get clear of her hitting me.
the bike is fine, i rode it home. i got her info just in case i
have some concussion next week... but i think everything is gonna
be ok.
also, this lady right in front of the starbucks on hollywood, a block
east of highland totally flipped out on some guy. she was
screaming at the top of her lungs at a man who was walking with a
little boy. she seemed to know them both. i even wonder if
the man was her father, and the boy was her son. there is no way
to tell, i am only curious
the guys at the shops nearby said that she regularly does stuff like
that, and that they see her walk by their stores about 50 times a day.
reaching out to hollywood is an adventure. though i did not see
the opportunity to start up any random conversations. i thought
today was great. i can't wait to go back

| it is really strange sitting in a cafe where it is only a few degrees outside... where the hot beverages are actually necessary.
in my last few days before i migrate back to the land of la la, it is a
goal to become inspired, to be motivated and hit the ground
running. i had a question for myself:
brady. do you dare to believe?
simple, but completely out of control at the same time. do i
really dare to believe to a point where it will change the way i shape
this planet. not just, "will i believe in religion" or jesus or the
metaphysical, but will i believe in myself. will i believe
in you. will i believe the children are the future? (sorry)
seriously, do i dare to believe that the things i say, the things that
i do will make not only a splash, or subtle ripple, in a pond, but
something more. do i believe that i can create enough momentum
where the result would be a great wave, propelling, churning and
exciting the sea around me?
do i dare believe
the great narrative cycle rings true: the expositional events
create a conflict that rises to a crest or climax of great intensity...
the resolution, the falling action, the restoration and epilogue.
this process, this is how the wave is born, how it it rises, crests and
falls. this is the beauty of nature and the great mystery of
life. do i have what it takes to make a great wave of impact of
concern, and humanity in this place, in this time?
do i dare believe
the next step: if i will choose to become available to move, or
be moved, what will move me? from where will the impetus
come? what matters enough to me to make this water move?
newton 1 and 3, roughly:
an object a rest tends to stay at rest.
an object in motions tends to stay in motion
for an object to achieve acceleration, it must interact with an object external to itself.
do you dare to believe? and if you do, what will move you?
